Three years ago, I discovered Stjepan \u0160ejic<\/a> and Sunstone, his comic book<\/a>. His beautiful lines, his incredible talent, his other creations (Death Vigil, Rat Queen<\/a>)\u2026 I was under his spell.<\/p>\n

Two years ago, I decided to learn drawing from scratch. One more time. Stjepan \u0160ejic became my role model. Not because I wanted to draw as he did. But because I wanted to reach his level someday.<\/p>\n

For two long years, I had to learn everything again. Drop my habits, forget the way I used to draw, rediscover everything. I avidly watched the way Stjepan \u0160ejic was working. Not just him, but mostly him. And several times, as I watched his tutorial videos, tears welled up in my eyes. As they do now.<\/p>\n

I never backed down, and God knows I\u2019m not gifted, and my health tried to stop me. I lost hope, often, I stopped trying, sometimes for weeks.<\/p>\n

But yesterday, I tried once again. Slowly, I had learnt and actually progressed. And finally, all this work has paid off. Of course, I\u2019m still far from my model. But it doesn\u2019t matter. I was finally able to put into a single illustration what I wanted so much two years ago.<\/p>\n

I want to dedicate those words to the one who made it all possible. Stjepan \u0160ejic, thank you, from the bottom of my heart.<\/p>\n

Il y a trois ans, je d\u00e9couvrais Stjepan \u0160ejic et Sunstone. Son trait merveilleux, son talent incroyable et toutes ses autres \u0153uvres (Death Vigil, Rat Queens). J’\u00e9tais sous le charme.<\/p>\n

Il y a deux ans, je d\u00e9cidais de r\u00e9apprendre totalement \u00e0 dessiner. Stjepan \u0160ejic devint mon mod\u00e8le. Pas parce que je voulais faire comme lui. Seulement parce que je voulais arriver un jour \u00e0 parvenir \u00e0 un petit peu de sa qualit\u00e9.<\/p>\n

Durant deux ans, j’ai du tout r\u00e9apprendre. Et perdre mes habitudes, mon trait, tout red\u00e9couvrir. J’ai regard\u00e9 avidement comment Stjepan \u0160ejic travaillait. Pas que lui, bien s\u00fbr mais surtout lui. J’ai souvent pleur\u00e9 d’\u00e9motion, comme j’ai des larmes aux yeux maintenant en \u00e9crivant, \u00e0 regarder son talent dans ses quelques videos de travail.<\/p>\n

Je n’ai jamais renonc\u00e9 et dieu sait que je ne suis pas tr\u00e8s dou\u00e9e et que souvent ma sant\u00e9 m’a frein\u00e9. J’ai souvent \u00e9t\u00e9 d\u00e9moralis\u00e9e, parfois j’ai arr\u00eat\u00e9 d’essayer, pendant des semaines.<\/p>\n

Et hier, j’ai encore essay\u00e9. Pas \u00e0 pas, j’ai progress\u00e9 et appris. Et enfin, tout cet apprentissage est parvenu \u00e0 ce que je r\u00eavais de faire depuis deux ans. Ho, je suis si loin encore de ce mod\u00e8le. Mais ce n’est pas grave. J’ai r\u00e9ussi \u00e0 mettre dans une illustration tout ce que je r\u00eavais de faire il y a deux ans.<\/p>\n

Je d\u00e9die ceci \u00e0 celui qui m’a permis d’y r\u00e9ussir : Stjepan \u0160ejic, merci, de tout mon coeur.<\/p>\n
