I’ve been sick for several days (COVID), so my good intentions to publish articles have fallen by the wayside. But I can at least present the preliminary rules for Imperial Ar IV, which are currently being developed. In fact, I stand by my opinion: they are very good, but still need some welcome clarification and refinement in order to cover all the general cases that players will have in mind and all the loopholes that still remain in these rules.<\/p>\n

But, yes, the rules are very good, and confirm what I said in my last article: the sim is inclusive, welcoming (who said woke? Yes, and it’s assumed), and welcoming to all LGBT+ people; it favors combat with dice and imagination in roleplay; it reminds us that the Gor novels are not a game guide, but stories, and that taking the novels literally is essentially a mistake; Finally, it reminds us that Gor is a science fiction planet-opera world, much closer to Edgar Rice Burroughs’ Mars Cycle (if you’ve seen the movie John Carter, you have an idea of what I mean) than to Conan and other low-fantasy novels set in a medieval or ancient world.<\/p>\n

In short… everything I defend and promote in the Gorean Archives, which can only make me happy (but knowing the Imperial Ar team, I expected nothing less).<\/p>\n
