Come support and help Gorean University

A month ago, Master Black Ort died of a heart attack. I often say that when we die, we no longer have any troubles. But for those left behind, the troubles are far from over.

Io Ort, his wife in real life and his companion and partner in Second Life, is experiencing this adage right now. Not only has the foundation, the pillar of her entire life, whom she loved with all her soul, died, but suddenly she is faced with all the troubles of hospital bills, funeral expenses, inheritance, administration, and even the most mundane bills. Because the world never stops turning for a dead person (unless they are very rich and famous, and then…).

So, yes, not only is Io in mourning, which, to sum up, means she is depressed and in total moral distress, but she is also in financial and administrative trouble. Fortunately, she is not completely alone, and we are helping her as best we can.

Black Ort is dead, and Black Ort was Gorean University. That is to say, a full sim and two homestead sims created since 2008. Which, for those in the know, represents a small fortune to pay for and maintain. But Gorean University is also a community. It has seen thousands of people come to discover the world of Gor and roleplay in Gor SL, and hundreds come to learn, take classes, etc. Not to mention all the themed shops that Gorean University hosts to help players dress up, equip themselves, discover roleplay locations, etc.

Gorean University is still a community, of which we are members. I am personally part of the staff, for example. Io is our leader, but she is still in mourning, and we are supporting her as best we can. As for the sims? We have the generous help of one of our members to maintain them and plan their future transfer to Io. That said, it’s not insignificant; we’re talking about several hundred dollars. So we need your help, your generosity, so that everything doesn’t rest on one person, to help both Io herself and Gorean University.

In concrete terms? We are going to organize events and activities on the sim to collect donations. These will be used to help finance Gorean University during the transition period necessary to secure the sims, i.e., approximately two to three months. But starting tomorrow, you can visit the sim and support us. Whether small or large, any donation will help us. Io is centralizing the donations, and you can donate via the tip jars on the sim, including the one that will be available in the TP area.

As for our friend Io, we will help her as best we can via a donation platform, to allow her, too, to manage the transition and the messy situation she finds herself in at the moment.
