Kajirae commands and postures

Let’s start by pointing out that many of the postures and commands the kajirae in Gor’s Second Life role-playing game must obey either don’t exist in the novels or have been invented.

Yes, it’s like Bazi’s complicated tea service, which doesn’t exist ANYWHERE in the novels. These are onlinisms.  I’ll specify which orders and postures they are, as the article progresses, but if you don’t see your favorite posture, it doesn’t exist!

Slaves learn the simplest commands and postures during their training, under the merciless thumb of the slave owner. The rest is learned during training, with an educator and the slaver watching from afar.

« Nadu » kneeling

A slave’s posture of waiting and service, when she’s not working, is on her knees, buttocks resting on her heels, back straight, arched, chin high.

All Gor women sit in this way, free women as well as slave girls. Cushions are more common than seats in Gor’s world, and women have been sitting this way since early childhood, so the posture couldn’t be more natural for them. A Free Woman will never sit cross-legged on a cushion like a man: it’s considered insolent posture.

Slave girls, on the other hand, never sit on a cushion, let alone a seat, unless specifically ordered to do so. To do so without an order would earn them immediate and violent punishment. A slave is an animal and belongs on the floor.

A slave girl kneels when greeting a free person, when waiting near her owner, or the master she has just served, when waiting for masters to serve in a tavern or inn, or in a banquet hall or salon. A slave-girl on her knees must remain so, as long as no one allows her to get up; yes, that means it can last a long time. But then again, the women of Gor have learned to sit on their knees since early childhood, and the position is natural to them. As for the kajirae, they have spent days and nights like this during their training, to the point of exhaustion; so they can wait for hours on end.

Nadu or Tower

There are two ways for slave girls to kneel: thighs open, or thighs closed. Free women always keep their thighs closed under their dresses. We call nadu kneeling with open thighs, tower kneeling with closed thighs. But in the novels, there’s only one word used: nadu, which simply means: on your knees.

For slave-girls, the rule is simple: keeping your thighs closed, having your hands flat on your thighs, or crossed, means closing yourself, and therefore announcing yourself as sexually unavailable. To open your thighs, turn your palms upwards, see your hands pass behind your back, which is common for a kajira of pleasure, is to expose yourself, announcing your availability to men’s pleasures.

Domestic slave-girls, who do the housework, as well as women’s companions or slaves hired by cities, keep their thighs closed. Virgin slave girls also always keep their thighs closed. Slave girls in inns and taverns, who can be enjoyed by men, as well as pleasure, exhibition, paga and bathing slave girls, keep their thighs open.

Technically, it’s not the slave-girl who chooses how to hold her thighs, but her function and whom she serves. Only virgin or restricted slave-girls always keep their thighs closed; the others open or close them depending on whether they serve a man or a woman, or on the order they receive. They may also do so of their own accord, but more often than not, they can only obey.

It’s worth noting, and this is a very important point, that the law and the desires of men come before those of women on Gor. So a slave-girl at the feet of the master she serves will not close her thighs in front of a woman. She must please the master if that is his pleasure; only he can decide whether to tell her to close her thighs or not. He’s within his rights. A slave girl, who generally kneels with her thighs open, will only close them if she is greeting or serving a woman, and only then.

The five basic orders

The four terms that follow are, including nadu!, the five commands that all kajirae know. Their translation from Gorean remains unclear, and the way to respond to the order is sometimes unclear and not necessarily well described, so in Gorean role-playing, players have imagined what these orders correspond to.

The kajirae didn’t just learn these words. They’ve been trained to obey them immediately, without thinking, the slightest hesitation or delay being punished with blows from the whip or flat whip; they’ve spent days receiving these orders and having to obey them immediately. In other words, I recommend that you learn these orders and the postures that go with them, when you’re barked at in-game: you’re supposed to respond without hesitation, wherever you are!

“Get up!” said the merchant. “Back up! Hands behind your head! Lean back! Further back! Further!” He turned to us. “Acceptable,” he said. Then he gave the girl orders, quickly and sternly. I watched with interest as the girl, with tears in her eyes, responded to his quick, curt orders. For more than four Ehn, he put her through a regime of rapid, staccato movement, a series of slave steps, evaluation steps, designed to show, vulnerably, decisively and publicly, her beauty, in all her major attitudes and positions. “Hands on hips! Be cheeky! Hands behind your back! Hands crossed in front of you, as if bound! Hands at your throat, as if chained to the collar, fingers in front of your mouth! Fall to the ground! On your knees! Head down! Head up! Lean back! Further back! Roll on the ground; on your side, on your back, right leg high, now bent, left leg high, now bent; on your side, right leg extended, palms down, left leg extended, palms down! Appears angry! Appears frightened! Appears excited! Smile!” He did so with the same speed, expert objectivity and clinical detachment that a doctor might bring to a routine medical examination; this examination, of course, was a beauty test, assessing the desirability of a female slave. The whip cracked again. She begged for mercy, shivering.

Sula!

Sula may mean “on your back”, or “lying down”. In this position, the kajira is available for the master’s sexual pleasure.

Bara!

Bara could mean “belly”, but it could also mean “offered”, as the word belly in Gorean is still said differently. The kajira lies on her stomach, head to the left, wrists crossed behind her, ankles also crossed. In this way, the kajira is ready to be bound. This position is also known as the “standard binding position”. Yes, that’s clearly what it’s for! Of course, the kajira must allow herself to be bound without flinching.

In Second Life slave animations, the posture is simply called Bara.

Lesha!

A very simple command, meaning “leash”. At this command, the kajira lifts her chin high and turns her head to the left to release her collar and collar ring, so that the master can put the leash on her more easily. The posture can be done standing or kneeling, with the kajira’s arms crossed behind her back or not.

In Second Life slave animations, “Lesha” is always on her knees, arms behind her back.

Expose yourself!

This posture is never ordered in Gorean terms: “expose yourself” is the order the master gives to admire or examine a slave. The kajira stands, legs open, straight and arched, wrists crossed behind the nape of the neck, sometimes even on tiptoe, chin high, and must keep her eyes open.

In Second Life slave animations, this posture is called “display”.

Other common orders

The orders that follow appear in the novels, but episodically and are not necessarily part of the orders and postures that all kajirae know by heart. We can imagine that it’s at the whim of the masters and slavers or according to their degree of education.

Your head!

Also ordered: “Put your head down!”, the command instructs the kajira to come and rest her head at the level of her master’s belt, on her left side, arm crossed behind her back. The master then grabs his slave’s head under the elbow, or grabs his hair again, and can pull his kajira behind him, even while he draws his sword.

In Second Life slave animations, this posture is called “hair”.

Heel!

Yes, like dogs! I keep saying that the best comparison with kajirae is our domestic dogs! After all, the dog, man’s best friend, doesn’t exist on Gor; perhaps they felt the need to compensate?

The order is very simple: he calls the kajira to come and stand behind his master, to his left, as close as possible, and to stay there… if he walks, she’ll stay behind him, always to his left.

Bracelets!

In another simple command, the kajira slips to her knees, puts her arms behind her back and crosses her wrists, turning her head to the left. It’s then easy for the master to tie her wrists… or simply keep her that way to enjoy her beauty and posture.

In the slave animations on Second Life, this posture is called “bracelets”.

On all fours!

The order means everything: the slave must get down on all fours, arched, chin up, head turned to the left. The order is often given so that the master can attach the leash to his slave. He may well decide to make her walk a few steps like this, but as the kajira won’t go fast, it’s mainly for the master’s amusement.

In Second Life, the most suitable slave animation is called “crawl”.

Obedience!

So, the order does exist and is required by the masters to remind the kajira of her status. But the way of doing it varies, there are at least three ways of doing it, so we’ll describe them quickly, choose what you like… and we’ll give you the names on SL of these postures.

When the master commands “obey”, the kajira lowers her head and bows at his feet. The posture described in the novels consists of kneeling with open thighs and bowing, lowering the head. But Gor players on SL have created a more explicit posture: karta, or Kar-Ta.

In Second Life slave animations, this posture is called “karta”.

The last is described in the novels: the kajira lies on her stomach, then crawls and licks and kisses her master’s foot. In any case, the act of requiring a kajira to prostrate herself more or less deeply is common, and is not necessarily a punishment, but simply a reminder of her condition in case she might forget it.

Beg!

In general, a master is not supposed to need to give this order. The slave-girl who has displeased a master has better time to get into this posture right away and beg the master’s forgiveness. But the order can be given to force a kajira to beg for her punishment. The kajira kneels, then bends down, and places forehead and palms on the ground in front of her, begging, her hands on the master’s foot, or even around his foot, her forehead on his foot.

In Second Life slave animations, this posture is called “prostrate”.

Whip!

And finally, the last of the common commands is barked several times in the novels, but is also ordered by saying “down!” by the master, whip in hand. The kajira then kneels down, folds her arms over her chest and bends over until her forehead touches the ground. From then on, her back and buttocks are available for the punishment the master wants to inflict on the slave.

In Second Life slave animations, this posture is called “whip”.

Conclusion

And that’s it! No more slave-girl orders and postures. There aren’t that many, after all, and that’s just as well – there’s enough complicated stuff to learn. Here, just remember the four basic orders, plus “nadu”, and you’ll have done most of it. The rest will come later.

And let’s get one thing straight: everything else is invention! I’m not telling you not to use them, but if someone comes to teach you a lesson because you don’t understand a bizarre order, such as “bow” (totally absurd) or “Sula-ki” (which does NOT exist) then send them to my site and to this page!
