Slave training & education

Norman has described many things in detail, but never the whole procedure for obtaining a kajira. And for good reason: it’s difficult to grasp, and it’s important to understand that it remains in the realm of the fictional and fantastical elements of Gor’s novels. In real life, it doesn’t work nearly as well as Norman likes to describe, simply because the human species is far more resilient than he imagined.

1- The nature of slavery

But let’s not forget that Gor is a world of fiction, and that this is an important and often misunderstood aspect of Gor’s world: the most desired women are enslaved, and Goreans want them enslaved above all else. A true woman, in the Gorean sense of the term, is not a free woman, as the latter must repress her femininity to the point of complete inhibition, and must display pride, honor, uprightness, rigor, etc. above all else… In short, a feminine mirror of the Gorean male, so to speak. Yet the Gorean definition of a true woman, who can only be animalized as a subjugated female, is this:

“You’re a slave-girl. In practice, of course, masters tend to pay a lot of attention to the thoughts and feelings of their lovely slave-girls. It’s gratifying and delightful to do so. It’s wonderful to know another human being so intimately, especially one’s own. There are no secrets between master and slave-girl. Her deepest thoughts and desires, as well as her most trivial fantasies and observations, are open to him freely and, because she belongs to him, of great interest to him. A man is far more likely to love intensely a girl he owns than a free woman with whom he has a mere contractual relationship. The latter will never belong to him; the former does. The possessed girl is a jewel; she’s precious, which makes her very different from a contractual companion. For what it’s worth, the most intimate and profound loves I’ve known have been between masters and their slave-girls, the one between the master in love and their love slave-girl.

– But the woman is still a slave,” she says.

– Yes,” I said, “totally and categorically. It can even be sold, if he wants.”

– The attention and love such a girl gets,” she says, “doesn’t she have to wait for it to be given to her?”

– No,” I said. “It’s a gift from the master.”

“The life of a slave-girl,” he says, “is a life entirely devoted to love. It’s not a life of compromise. It’s not one of those lives with bits of this and bits of that. It’s a total way of life, an absolute existence. The slave-girl seeks to give everything, selflessly, knowing that she is a mere slave, an animal without rights belonging to her master, to be bought and sold at will, that she can make no demands, that she deserves nothing and is entitled to no attention or consideration. There is no deal with her, no arrangement.”

Socially, the definition is just as simple, and can be summarized as follows:

 “The expression ‘girl’ in such contexts is rich and delightful. It has a beautiful, yet reductive or degrading meaning, which emphasizes the difference between slave-girl and free woman, and draws attention to the smallness, insignificance and fragility of the slave-girl. Indeed, free mistresses will invariably refer to, and address, their service slave-girls, even those of their own age, as “girls”.

For men, the term “girl” not only has the aforementioned connotation, but, even more powerfully and irrespective of the woman’s age, the insistent suggestion of extreme sexual desirability. It functions as a term of interest and praise. It has nothing to do with age; it’s a signal that he sees her as ideal prey to his aggressive, domineering dispositions. Of two women of the same age, a man will regard one as a girl, the slave, and the other as a woman, the free woman. But the one he desires above all will be the one he considers a girl, because he sees her as young and desirable, still young enough to be eager for his strength and virility, ready for it. The other, the free woman, for whom he has no sexual interest, he’s content to call a woman, or whatever she wants.

It’s interesting to note, by the way, that free women who are interested in men and still on the sex market, so to speak, often think of themselves and their friends as “girls.” At one point, Ellen, by virtue of her ethics, was forced to denounce this, but she understands it now. Be that as it may, the slave is considered a female, a slave-girl.”

In short, a Gorean never compromises with the animalistic, feminine, sensual and docile nature of a slave-girl. She must be all these things or she is nothing. For a Gorean, a true woman is just that: fragile, amorous, emotional, sensual, passionate, expressive, delicate, lustful and slut-like, totally submissive and docile to even her most brutal whims. And she must have integrated without questioning that she is an animal possessed, that can be beaten, even for nothing, injured or even killed on simple desire, lent, given and sold without her being able to do anything about it except accept it.

And it’s easy to see that it’s not all plain sailing!

2- Why break a slave to train her?

To explain why, I have a nice example I like to cite on this subject, which comes simply from a discussion on SL, with some girls, playmates, a few years ago, on a French-speaking sim Gor; I had for a debate, asked this long question:

Take five minutes to put yourself firmly in your shoes as a Western earthwoman of the 21ème century and think about this: how could you voluntarily accept, in full awareness and possession of all your means and lucidity, that all your rights, your very identity, your roots, your past be taken away from you? To have the right to decide what to do with your body, your life and your time taken away from you? Take away the freedom to choose who you love or hate? That you be forbidden even to decide what you want to say or think?

From now on, you’re an object! A commodity, whose real value depends solely on who owns you. You’re livestock, you can be given away, sold, exchanged, and stolen, of course. You can be raped, humiliated, beaten, tortured, mutilated, and you can’t defend yourself, nor hope to be defended, because you’re an object; you have no rights. You can be killed on a whim, and then anyone can do whatever they want with you.

And you’ll have a duty to be perfect in everything you do and in the way you serve, act and think as a slave-girl, at the risk of being beaten or worse. All your passion, love, patience, attention and absolute devotion will be demanded of you, but without owing you anything in return. Would you accept this willingly? Or would you fight to escape it, at all costs?

I don’t know what your answer is, but so far, every time I’ve put the question to players on Gor SL in this way, the answer is “ah yeah but no, no way?” And the only logical, obvious nuance is: but if it’s that or die, do you have a choice?

And that’s the whole point of breaking a woman and turning her into a slave-girl. You have to tell her the obvious, not by appealing to her logic, her reason, but by appealing to her body, her instinct: accept your fate or die.

Here’s what I’m going to say: Norman’s a jerk… because nobody’s going to take kindly to the romantic aspect, “Oh, the handsome, virile man at whose feet I feel so good!” That’s forgetting what you’re going to be: the handsome, virile man at whose feet you feel so good may very well, because you’re a good source of dough after all, sell you the next day in a tavern where you’ll end your life shackled, never seeing the light of day again, giving blowjobs on the line. And there are even worse spells!

And for the obvious to sink in: accept your fate or you’ll die, there are no thirty-six solutions: it has to be accepted totally, forcibly, radically and definitively. To be sure that the girl won’t rebel, won’t put herself in danger, won’t put others in danger and that she is, in short, ready to meekly accept her training and the state in which we want to place her in order to turn her into a true Gorean slave-girl, you have to break her.

3- How do the Goreans do it?

If you’re familiar with the principle of Stockholm Syndrome, which is the subject of much debate; if the syndrome exists, its nature and assessment are the subject of much controversy, you’ll begin to see what I’m getting at, at least in part.

Simply put, in a hostage situation (or any situation of shared tension between torturer and victim), an empathic bond, a deep sympathy, is created between captor and hostage, when both are confronted with the tension of their shared situation. The hostage is under tension, and so is the captor, and both, in order to withstand this tension and stay alive, create an emotional bond that can be profound. For this to work, the hostage must understand the captor’s motivation, and the captor must not have any deep-seated feelings of hatred or rejection for his hostage. The hostage can then accept, and sometimes even totally integrate, the captor’s cause. The mistreatment is then justified (whether logically or aberrantly) by the hostage, while the captor develops a particular and personal regard for his hostage, which leads him to preserve him beyond the simple idea of practical interest.

This is what happens in the relationship that develops between a Gorean trainer and his future slave-girl victim. Slavers, who need to keep a cool head given their profession, are wary of this bond. They know it exists, of course, from experience, and are careful not to feel this empathy, even if they can never fully protect themselves from it. However, this phenomenon is of great interest and use: it facilitates the creation of a bond between the slave and his master, and his cooperation, making it easier and quicker to achieve the desired goal: docility. This is why a captive is kept in a cage, chained, in a situation of great vulnerability and dependence, when she is being subdued. She has only one person, her captor, from whom she can request the most basic care to ensure her survival. If her captor lavishes her with a certain amount of attention, creating a relationship of exchange, she becomes bound to him, quite simply to survive!

This operation is the first phase in the techniques for breaking a slave. It doesn’t take long, a handful of days at most, to ensure that the bond is formed. The brain is plastic, the survival instinct powerful, and the brain will do anything, including remake neuronal connections (yes, modify its own memories), to adapt to the situation and stay alive.

To speed up this phase, the simplest forms of abuse are employed: deprivation of movement (shackles, cage), total nudity, drastic restriction of food and water, deprivation of the most basic hygiene: forcing the animal to relieve itself underneath itself or in its cage is quite a devastating ordeal for the ego.

4- The stages

This is when the master begins to control his captive, and the second phase begins. Once placed in total vulnerability, with no hope of negotiating, refusing or escaping, the captive may very well try, in extreme cases, to injure or kill herself.

In all cases, she will resist the master’s hold and demands with all her might and with the means at her disposal. It’s her will that expresses itself, and an instinct more or less fiercely riveted to her soul, to save her freedom, even if it means losing her life. It’s not difficult: to find out whether a captive is docile or not, all you have to do is repeatedly force her to do a few humiliating and animalistic things, including very simple things like crawling, relieving herself in front of her master, eating out of his hand, allowing herself to be examined and pawed naked and exposed, etc. There’s no need to do more than that: according to the master, the captive’s will is expressed by a more or less fierce instinct riveted to her soul. You don’t even need to do anything more: depending on the captive’s reaction, you can tell immediately whether she’s become totally docile or still rebellious. And if she rebels, that’s when the real abuse begins: each time she rebels, the punishment has to be harsh and cruel, and it’s a crescendo.

Escalating cruelty and punishment are not the goal, nor is suffering and abuse. The goal is, first and foremost, that every abuse for every rebellion increases physical and moral exhaustion. The aim is to break the will, not to destroy the body and mind. The aim is to systematically crush the will to rebel and any hope of escape, to create a state of intense fear and permanent stress, until the breaking point. And all this, of course, with as little physical and mental damage as possible to the slave, which forbids amateurism, thoughtless sadism or ill-considered decisions.

The principle of this escalation is very simple: the first, almost inevitable rebellion leads to a punishment that generates a great deal of physical and moral suffering. Then, any attempt to refuse obedience, however insignificant, is punished ever more cruelly and at greater length. Insofar as beatings are not necessarily the best way to break morale, confinement, humiliation and deprivation will be widely used.

At this stage, a good trainer simply strips his captive of everything that makes her a person: her identity, her ability to walk, run, stand, use her hands, cleanliness, hygiene, personal privacy, her right to eat and drink, even a simple place to sleep. The captive has to beg for everything! The point is, she has to do it in tears, she has to do it with the utmost sincerity. And that she only obtains this as a gift, a privilege, granted as she goes along, increasing the difficulty of the proofs of docility she must demonstrate.

In reality, when a slave is deprived of everything in this way, she can only remain on her knees in Nadu, in defiance of her exhaustion.  She has to beg on all fours, kissing her trainer’s foot, for food and water. She must let herself be touched, examined and stroked on all fours without protesting once, or no more than with tears or grimaces. She must learn the fear of speaking without permission, and the duty to say “master” at the end of every sentence. She must understand how to bow properly, and always kneel before free people, whoever they may be. And finally, she must understand that, from now on, to any order or wish expressed by her trainer, she no longer has the right to say “no”.

There can be many nuances at this stage; it depends on the trainer, his expertise, his objective, but also his own sensitivity. Not all trainers are soulless brutes, although at this stage they should be merciless. One slaver will favor masterful beatings, another will have the patience to use the cage and all its deprivations, another will use the box to lock a captive in darkness and silence for days to accelerate the state of exhaustion, terror and disorientation. Some will even use drugs and clever tortures, such as simulated suffocation or drowning, while others will use humiliation and coerced sex as a means of pressure.

The techniques are vast, and can be employed with patience and relative gentleness, because the master is not in a hurry, or is even amused by the rebellion of his future slave and plays with her resistance; or brutally and radically, because the trainer is in a hurry and has no time to linger, he must obtain a quick and effective result.

One thing is clear, however: the faster you go, the riskier it is. That’s the difference between the art of a slaver and the technique of an unskilled gorean. If you don’t know how to break a captive effectively, it’s better to use patience. On the contrary, this torture must also, paradoxically, deepen the captive’s emotional dependence, as well as her total physical and mental vulnerability. What remains a secondary concern for a slaver, who grooms a commodity before quickly training and selling it, becomes vital for a master who wants to break his future slave-girl into his docile, loving thing.

5- Training

– You’re a slave-girl,” I explained. You’re possessed. You’re a female. You will be forced to be a woman. If you were free and Gorean, the men would let you stay as you are, but you’re neither Gorean nor free. The Goreans won’t accept any compromise on your femininity, not from a slave-girl. You’ll be what they want you to be: a woman, entirely, and their property. If necessary, they’ll whip you or let you starve. You can fight your master. He’ll let you, if he feels like it, to prolong the pleasure of your conquest but, in the end, you’ll remain the slave; and you’ll lose. On Earth, you had a society behind you, the result of many centuries of feminization; when a man simply dared to speak harshly to you, you could flee or appeal to the magistrates; here, however, it’s not you that society supports, but him; it will take account of his will, because you’re only a slave-girl; you won’t be able to flee or call anyone to your rescue; you’ll be alone with him, and at his mercy. What’s more, they’re not conditioned to fight their instincts, to feel guilty, to hate themselves; they’ve learned pride and, in the very air they breathe, the domination of women. These men are different. They’re not Earthlings. They’re Goreans. They’re strong, they’re tough and they’ll conquer you. With Earth men, you might never be a woman. With the men of Gor, I assure you that, sooner or later, you will be one.

This quote has the merit of being very clear on what is expected when training a slave girl. In fact, the first thing to do, once the captive has been broken in, is to make sure that, even in the face of the worst manipulations and humiliations, she will remain totally docile: she may grumble, be angry, protest, but the aim is for her to let herself be done completely and without rebelling, exactly as is expected of a docile, submissive doll. To test her, simply take her on a leash, shackled, to a public place and expose her in front of other men, have her serve naked, offer her to all eyes and contacts. In short, test her in the conditions of her future life.

Below, I describe the typical stages of the whole procedure, in the broadest sense, from day zero, including training and education. I’ve added estimates of the time required.

Week 1 to 2 – Reducing to a docile beast:

So that’s the subject we’ve just dealt with: how to break a captive’s will, why, and how?

This stage can take a few days; the Goreans say that an intelligent woman understands this in three days. That said, it’s more like five or six, or even more. It’s easy to imagine that a freedom-loving Earth woman who doesn’t know how to speak Gorean is likely to resist for a good ten days!

Weeks 3 to 6- Instinctive obedience:

The newly broken slave-girl is subjected to severe conditioning based entirely on visceral fear of punishment, the aim of which is that she obeys every simple command without a second thought.

The mind is not solicited; it’s the body and instinct, through fear alone, that will learn. She is physically exhausted, deprived of everything: little food, little sleep; she is kept under intense stress; the slightest hesitation provokes immediate and escalating punishment. She learns to keep her eyes down, not to move, to kneel at a glance, to get into the required position. She learns slave positions, to be touched and manipulated by anyone, eventually to be used sexually in any way (and without regard for her pleasure), to beg while crawling for food or to be able to go to the toilet, wash, etc…

At the end of such treatment, the slave-girl has undergone a real mental wash; her mind is like a blank page, her traumas, which will keep her docile and submissive, anchored forever. It’s worth noting that free Gorean women have learned some of these codes and orders: they’ve been shown how to obey them, to spare them some of the suffering they’ll have to endure.

This stage may take two to four weeks, but the most resistant may not give way for six weeks.

Weeks 7 to 8 – Training validation:

When the slave-girl shows that she’s totally resigned to her fate and obeys all the orders imposed on her as her new life, the rewards begin, when she’s obedient and docile. These can be treats, caresses, but above all praise and congratulations, just as you would give to a good and docile dog.

The trainer takes the time to strengthen the bond of dependence with the slave girl and grants her a few privileges, such as fewer restraints, more food, a corner for her hygiene and toilet, a blanket, etc. However, at this stage, the slave girl is still totally naked. To gauge the degree of progress, simply perform a test: give the girl a particularly humiliating or degrading order and see if she obeys without hesitation. If she obeys, we reward her and repeat the test later. If the slave girl succeeds two or three times in a row, we know that the training has been successful, and we can move on to her education.

This last stage can take from one to two weeks and, at this stage, rarely fails. That said, the most rebellious girls will never reach this stage and will often be dead by then. This is the case for half of all Earth girls, who don’t survive beyond stage 2.

At this stage, however, as mentioned above, the slave girl knows nothing: her mind has been broken and washed of its former free and rebellious personality; her body is, of course, in bad shape and her health exhausted by training. All she knows is the visceral fear of disobedience on pain of punishment, and the beginnings of a very animal awareness that, if she is good and obedient, she will be rewarded. So now we have to reformat the slave and bring out her reshaped personality, and condition her to love and fully accept her new state. This is where the conditioning begins.

Note: branding is not the pinnacle of slave training! Branding is in fact an impersonal action, which has two uses: the first is to signal that the branded individual is legally a slave. Some slaves are never branded, but then they can’t be sold, as branding is generally mandatory for trade. The second use is to help break the slave by making him understand definitively that his condition is inescapable. Branding should therefore take place at the very first stage of training, and never afterwards, as the shock of branding can ruin a successful training.

6- Basic education

Warning: what follows is not exactly what is described in the novels, and for good reason, this subject is described only in a few rather lacunar chapters, here and there. So I’ve made sure to fill in what’s missing to achieve what Norman describes: a sensitive, eroticized slave girl, enslaved and steeped in her lot, whose sensuality is inextricably linked to her status. Of course, this is only one way of doing things, very similar to the one described in the novels, but which can be imagined in various variants; each slave owner has his own personal recipe, more or less effective depending on the goal he pursues – and the means he wants to invest.

From now on, in the case of training in a slaver house, the trainer will no longer be the only one to look after the slave-girl. Always kept under close supervision and with very little freedom of movement, she is entrusted to a slave girl educator and assistants, who will continue the conditioning process. Even in a private setting, the master will enlist the help of other slave girls to assist him, as conditioning requires a constant presence that is impossible to provide alone.

A good trainer, especially a slaver, keeps a close eye on this stage. He can’t do it himself, however, as the first few weeks require intensive supervision, several hours a day. At this stage, the slave girl is docile: after all she’s been through, her mind still shaken by cruel ordeals and intense exhaustion, she obeys completely, without a second thought. Regularly, this obedience will be put to the test by physically taxing orders, by the slaver and the girl-slave educator, mainly to maintain strong psychological pressure.

Weeks 8 & 9, the mirror

1- Learning about her body: the slave-girl’s first week is spent naked in front of a large full-length mirror. She kneels with her thighs open, sometimes with her arms behind her back, or behind her head. A girl-slave educator is responsible for ensuring that the girl-slave looks at herself in the mirror, studies herself and keeps as silent as possible. She has to hold the posture for several hours at a time, which means she won’t succeed and will be punished by the girl-slave educator. But when she does succeed, she’ll be flattered and stroked as a reward, sometimes even with a sweet treat. The slave girl does nothing else: she is taken out of her cage when it’s time for the mirror, and put back in after her 5 to 6 hours of testing. She may be visited by the slave owner, who will come to feed her or supervise her care and test her obedience, but nothing is taught or explained to her yet.

2- Learning that she’s a slave-girl: here the conditioning begins (and yes, we’re talking brainwashing here!). The second week is like the first, but the slave-girl, naked in front of the mirror, has to repeat over and over again: “I’m a slave-girl”. If she’s a barbarian and doesn’t know Gorean, we’ll make sure she repeats it in her own language. Here again, it’s easy to imagine that the sheer psychological pressure of the ordeal can’t go down without a hitch, so the slave-girl will often be punished, and often rewarded by succeeding in the effort imposed. Educator-slave-girls don’t punish as cruelly as slavers: more often than not, they use blows with a badine, a low-intensity electric prod, etc., to discipline the slave-girl and force her to continue.

Weeks 10 & 11: Learning

3- Learning why she’s a slave girl: Here, the lessons begin, as do the explanations, for the third and fourth weeks. As a reminder : the slaver trains, the educator-slave-girl educates; that’s a quote from the novels. Both will play a more crucial role, however.

During the day, still naked in front of the mirror, the slave-girl receives from the educator-slave-girl an explanation of her state, her status, her now-proven nature. That the enslaved woman is the only true natural woman (in Gor’s world), that it is in this status alone that she can and must freely live out her femininity and sexuality, her newfound freedom, that she can and must be proud of it, and why she must serve men totally and think only of pleasing them.

The slave-girl can discuss and even debate, including with other slave-girls. The girl-slave educator will teach the slave mantras, i.e. texts and series of questions and answers that must be repeated over and over again, pushing the girl-slave to fully integrate the idea that she is a girl-slave, why she is and what her role is. It’s here that slave girls learn the obligations, the prohibitions, the risks of breaking the rules and duties of their new state.

The slaver will also come regularly to remind her of these principles, but above all to question the slave-girl on the mantras and questions and answers she has learned. Of course, it’s all about reward and punishment. During these two weeks, the slaver and the girl-slave educator will begin to introduce more erotic and sexual flattery and caresses to reward the girl-slave, in order to awaken her sexuality.

Weeks 12 & 13: Slave fire

4- Learning to accept being a slave-girl: in the fifth week of conditioning, the slave-girl returns to the mirror, full-time, and does just one thing: repeats over and over again the slave mantras, which sum up the most essential codes of her state and condition. The girl-slave educator questions her, and the girl-slave has to answer immediately and without error, the girl-slave educator managing to accentuate the psychological pressure through the rhythm of the questions and through further caresses and erotic stimulation to keep the girl-slave under a high degree of arousal.

During this fifth week, it’s common practice to interrogate the slave-girl blindfolded, while she’s being caressed by unknown hands, and to keep her hands tied behind her back and blindfolded the rest of the time, including when sleeping, feeding or washing, in order to make her lose all sense of time and autonomy.

5- Learning to love being a slave-girl: the sixth week, which can sometimes extend for another week, consists in completing the conditioning of the slave-girl. Here, the slaver himself will often attend or participate in this stage.

In front of a mirror, but also often blindfolded and with her hands tied behind her back, the slave-girl is stroked and sexually stimulated, while she has to repeat over and over again: “I am a slave-girl, I like being a slave-girl”. Sometimes she is made to repeat a slave mantra under the same conditions. The slaver may come and caress the slave-girl until she orgasms, while forcing her to repeat and shout this phrase and her mantras. It’s a long and demanding job, requiring constant vigilance, because the aim is for the slave-girl to become totally imbued with her state, her nature, until she associates it with pleasure, after having associated disobedience and rebellion with pain.

6- The final test: very simple, in fact. Once the final weeks of conditioning are over, the slaver makes the slave-girl repeat, naked, on her knees in front of him, the simple phrase: I am a slave-girl, or the classic slave mantra: “Who am I? A slave-girl, a woman possessed. Why am I branded? So that everyone can see I’m possessed. What is my only duty? Absolute obedience. What is my greatest desire? To please men. If the slave-girl is sexually aroused when she responds to the slaver, if she reacts sensually and her body can’t hide it, then her conditioning is well and truly complete. If not, then it’s a failure: we’ll probably have to repeat the conditioning, in part, after a brief period of muscular training to prepare her mind before starting again. Or decide that the slave girl will end up being a lap girl for household chores.

Total dressing time

And if you’ve calculated the estimated time it takes to train and condition a kajira, you’ll have noticed that the total is around 13 weeks, i.e. about 3 months. Which isn’t too much, after all. That said, often, with a slightly resistant girl, or if the trainer has decided to take his time to obtain a perfect result, a masterpiece, it could take 4 months, or even 6!

But time is money to a slaver… and even a Gorean quickly tires of it. If a slave can’t be decently trained, she’s either sold on as a kettle girl for household chores, or as a paga girl in the tavern brothels; or if nothing at all is achieved, she’s killed. And this is by no means hidden from the slave-girl, which is bound to motivate many to fight to escape such fates!

7- Education of pleasure slaves

This section is primarily concerned with girl-slaves, whose price is expected to be high; in other words, mainly pleasure slaves. It’s for them that you’ll spend all your money on the staff and equipment needed to complete their training, in enclosed, luxurious pleasure gardens, where the price of the girls who leave can reach staggering sums.

But pleasure slaves and tower slaves are just functions. A barely trained girl can be exploited as a pleasure slave in a paga tavern, while a slave girl educated for years in the rules of the art can very well be employed as a scribe’s assistant.

If tower slaves don’t need to go far beyond conditioning and will learn everything on the job, the fact is that if you can spare the time to educate them, you will. This is where the master’s taste and desires often come into play. Once he’s bought a girl, he’ll either train her in his own image, or have her trained by the slave girls in his chain, or by a slaver in his entourage.

Here, we forget to consider the time required in detail. Remember that training a slave girl takes as long as training a dog. Having been a dog handler myself and having trained and educated rescue and guard dogs, I’ve often explained that if a rescue dog is at least four and a half years old… that’s because more than half its age is the time needed to train it effectively! So, to imagine totally educating a girl to be a perfect pleasure slave, in a few weeks or a month or two: no, definitely not.

Sensitivity & sensuality

After six to seven weeks of conditioning, the slave-girl will continue to be sexually stimulated every day, generally throughout her training, so that she associates sexual pleasure with the reward for her obedience and docility, but also to keep her constantly alert. The ultimate goal is total sexual and sensory disinhibition.

The slave-girl will also be subjected to a certain amount of pain or physical constraint, to exacerbate her physical and emotional sensitivity, and totally uninhibit her, so that she is totally unable to contain her emotions and reactions. She will no longer be able to hide anything, and will have learned not to be able to hold back tears, sadness, pleasures and sorrows. In this way, any man can read a slave-girl open-book simply by her body, her face and her eyes. Remember: goreans love it! They’re not interested in a slave-girl who’s as arrogant, insensitive and haughty as a free woman… except to chain her to their feet and force her into tears and emotions.

Even more than never lying, the slave girl can’t hide anything. Above all, she no longer desires it. And, of course, she can no longer do without sex. Once such training is complete, sex is no longer a secondary need, but as imperative as hunger or sleep! The slave girl will beg anyone and anything to satisfy this need. Are you thinking of addiction to hard drugs? You’re absolutely right!

This stimulation requires three to six hours a day, constantly repeated. On this point, the kajira will never be allowed to rest, as stimulation is provided by the educator slave-girl, assistant slaves, henchmen and the slaver himself. But it can also be even more intense, forming the core of her education.

Frequently, the slave-girl is subjected to this stimulation, tied up and blindfolded, in a difficult posture or in public. Painful stimuli are also added, which may be difficult to bear but are never comparable to the pain of physical punishment; they are of course mixed with pleasure, depending on the whims and objectives of the slave owner. Goreans love sensitive, responsive girls, but they also love rough, cruel treatment and games. That’s why, time and again, the slave girl will be raped mercilessly, painfully, and whipped or beaten, gratuitously, to keep her aware that it could happen to her at any moment and that no reason is necessary.

It’s at the end of her training, which has included postures and deportment, the arts and sexual pleasures, that a future pleasure slave can, at last, be isolated in a cage of stimulation to perfect her senses, delicacy and shyness.

Stimulation cages are not very common, because they’re very expensive to produce and very expensive to maintain! They are most often used by slavers, although a competent (and very wealthy) owner who trains his own slaves can also own one.

The stimulation cage is a comfortable, low, fairly wide cage with a thickly carpeted floor. It’s richly adorned, with furs, fabrics, perfumes, trinkets, make-up, brushes and various jewels; it really is a beautiful and pleasant cage, but it’s always exposed and open for all to see. The slave girl, always naked, cannot stand upright in the cage, which is never more than five feet high (the height is often adjustable according to the girl’s height). This means that the slave-girl must always keep her head down. In the cage, she is forbidden both to speak without permission (which is rarely granted) and to look up at anyone. There, a girl-slave educator feeds her, cares for her, introduces her to pleasures, and teaches her to use make-up, beauty products, combs, hair and body oils and perfumes, to enhance her beauty and instill in her a love of refinement and pageantry. On a regular basis, the slave girl will be looked at, admired and commented on by men, the slaver’s customers, friends of the master, visitors, etc. She may be touched, caressed and made to feel like a slave. She may be touched, caressed, even ordered to expose herself, but never allowed to leave the cage.

For the cage, exposed but isolating the slave girl, often plunged into silence and darkness when no one comes to see her, is designed to accentuate her loneliness, her desire to please, her fear of failing to do so, and her absolute desire to belong to a man who will come and get her out. Yes, the stimulation cage is beautiful, cozy, pleasant, comfortable, more than any slave-girl will ever know… but it’s a morally and emotionally exhausting ordeal. Slave-girls who spend day and night there without ever being able to speak will often burst into tears.

Generally speaking, after four to six weeks in a stimulation cage, the slave-girl’s shyness, desire and restraint turn her into a girl who is as gentle and docile as she is beautiful and desirable, quivering at the slightest breath, whose body is totally and permanently awake and whose mind is totally devoted to belonging to whoever will buy her.

Postures, service & manners

A kajira doesn’t magically move with the affluent grace of a sensual animal. Throughout their education, both in specific courses lasting several hours and in their every move, during their training, slave-girls learn how to stand, walk, kneel, bow, and even how to eat and drink. This highly codified and demanding apprenticeship has but one aim: to please, absolutely and totally, and of course to achieve perfection in bodily expression, beauty and devotion.

With this comes, of course, the art of serving! Serving a man, serving a woman, serving a table, knowing precedence, learning to apologize and beg in the event of displeasure from the guest being served, learning to take a slap too, because that’s part of service!

The posture exercises, almost always provided by other slave girls – usually the educator slave girls – can be a real torture and suffer no leniency. It’s at this stage that we judge whether a slave-girl will learn to move like a feline creature with a dancer’s grace and hold her place in the service of the free, or will never know how to have more gestural beauty than a thalarion leaving the swamp heavily.

Chores & cooking

That’s right, because even the most beautiful and arrogant pleasure slave has learned how to darn a sock, scrub a chamber pot and scrub muddy boots. In fact, for the most educated slave-girls, this obligatory step consists in teaching them how to keep a house and their master’s belongings clean and, above all: to cook!

Cooking is a very important part of training, and in general, it’s never neglected. Pleasing men also means pleasing their stomachs, and the art of cooking is as much about knowing how to cook everything as it is about knowing how to dress dishes into works of art, as well as being able to make all kinds of delicious and exotic dishes. As this training alone can require a long apprenticeship, it is not always very advanced.

The arts

The kajirae arts include dancing, singing and music. It’s a long training course that can quickly become expensive.

Even slave dancing, which is basically quite simple even if highly codified, is taught by trained girl-slave educators. Think of the dance classes at professional dancers’ conservatories and the (very real) imagery of the physical ordeals to get there, and you have a general idea of the ordeal the slave-girl will endure.

Slave dancing requires between two and six months of intensive training, several hours a day. Beyond the codifications of the dance, it’s above all the perfection of her bodily expression and the total disinhibition of the dancer that takes time. You have to ensure your physical training, on the one hand to be able to move your body lively and gracefully, and on the other to be able to dance on command, sometimes without music, and sometimes for hours on end. In short, you can’t train a slave-girl to dance without putting in the time and effort.

For singing and music, it’s even more difficult and arduous, and can take several years. You can’t play music properly, even with intensive training, for several months, and it’s almost the same for singing.

Sexual pleasures

And finally, there’s the subject of sexual pleasure and the services and codes that go with it. Here, we’re not talking about the pleasure of the slave-girl, but of the master she’s going to serve. All this training, if explained and dispensed by educator-slave-girls, is followed by practical lessons and exercises provided by the master, the slaver or his henchmen, more rarely by a kajiru (a male slave) intended solely for this purpose.

The kajira will learn the art of massage, bathing, caressing, relaxing and arousing, using her body, her hands, her mouth and all her orifices. She will also learn to endure the most rigorous assaults or the most brutal rapes, and to react to them in such a way as to find pleasure in them – or at least to be able to take it mentally without suffering. She’ll also be introduced to all the erotic and sexual games and toys of the goreans. And they have a lot of them! Even if Norman refuses to admit it, in the novels, absolutely the entire panoply of BDSM play tools is used. Bondage, chains and suspensions are among the most common and favorite.

Training in sexual pleasures can take months of subtle training in caresses, kisses and massages. What can be learned very quickly can also take months of perfecting, during which the slave will be used sexually very often.

It’s also worth noting that in this training, it’s perfectly possible to keep the girl-slave white silk (virgin), simply by preventing her vagina from being penetrated (or even from being penetrated at all), which poses no real complication to the rest of her complete training as a pleasure slave. It’s rare, but it’s a whim that men are willing to pay fortunes for!

8- How long did it take?

The general estimate is that once a slave-girl has been trained and conditioned, which takes around three months roughly, it takes another two months (around 8 weeks) for the most basic education.

A trained pleasure slave will require at least a year of training and education.

For a high-quality pleasure-slave girl, you’ll need three whole years.

And beyond that, we’re talking about luxury education for the most expensive slave girls. This is often reserved for slaves from breeding farms. It takes 5 to 10 years to teach the slave girl all the arts and techniques, as well as intellectual and scholarly knowledge, in order to please even the most demanding men.

It’s easy to see why some slave prices soar, as we realize that it takes vast resources to train and educate slave-girls, and we also realize that, no, trained and conditioned slave girls can’t be worth a few copper coins, given the labor required to train them.

9- My advices for this kind of roleplay experience.

I realize that it’s a bit difficult to propose how to stage such a long and complex work on a role-playing framework and a Second Life sim.

That said, slave training roleplay is inherently complicated anyway; just ask the players who try out the role of slaver or educator-slave-girl. Not many continue past their first, often very difficult experiences.

To begin with, it’s important to remember that a slaver can’t work alone. He always has a henchman or two to watch over his merchandise, and slaves to look after and care for it. He will have a trained educator slave-girl, if he can afford one. It’s not easy to find players for these roles, but in this case, you might as well take them into account and play them as NPCs (non-player characters).

Various in-game tools, such as the excellent little HUD: ICOC Chat Repeater, allow you to embody these NPCs via emotes without having to create new avatars and accounts. But if you can find a slave-girl assistant or educator, that’s the icing on the cake!

The part about how to break a captive into slavery is the best-known and most-played. That said, it’s often poorly staged, botched, or spoiled by mistakes, clumsiness, or lack of interest on the part of one of the participants. Yes, it’s just as bad to immerse yourself in this roleplay by playing the trainer, and see that the captive doesn’t give a damn and spoils the subject, or leaves without even discussing it, as the opposite! Having said that, I hope my text has helped you see things more clearly and imagine how to play these scenes.

Everything that concerns the next phase, i.e. the six weeks of basic education/conditioning, can be played with the emphasis on moments of exchange and debate. Suffice it to say that the first two weeks of this phase are not exciting to play. It’s best to concentrate on the time before or after each day of intense effort.

After that, the rest of these weeks of basic education/conditioning offer more than enough opportunities for exchange and roleplay to fill them. But don’t hesitate to make the days go by! Time is relative and elastic in role-playing, and this is the time to exploit this advantage, in agreement with the players concerned, so as not to spend six weeks of RL time dragging out this phase. Personally, I’ve experimented with this in RP a few times, and it lasted a week or two.

And the same advice then applies to the different parts of education. Moreover, each kajira is educated according to what is expected of her, how she will serve, how she will be sold. Some things are a bit of a must, like sensitivity and sensuality, posture and service, but again, this can be adapted and modified to suit the desires of the players concerned.

The most interesting thing is to give life to the background, the deep meaning of these roleplay plots, rather than to their form. For example, pleasure training, which includes a number of long and difficult apprenticeships, doesn’t need to be staged as anything other than a series of key scenes over the course of the training.

In short, don’t hesitate to explain things using literary parables. A week or two’s training can be summed up in one or two paragraphs, which, for example, open with a scene that will be played out live.

Fire up your imagination, and don’t forget: even more than any role-playing moment, this one demands the utmost fair play and mutual, consensual respect from all participants. Don’t leave anything to chance or uncertainty – you’ll soon regret it. Communicate and make clear, in advance, your expectations, your limits, what can be explored and what must not be crossed.  Keep an open mind, ready to accept things you hadn’t anticipated or that might put you off at first sight, but above all, accept where this story is going in an agreement that’s always consensual.

I insist: it’s one of the most immersive and powerful Gorean role-playing experiences I know. But that means there can be mistakes just as profound and powerful. If you’re a slave girl, a captive, don’t think you can accept it by detaching yourself completely, because it’s only your character who suffers. You’re going to take it, indirectly and sometimes unexpectedly and violently! And don’t think you can step back effortlessly. That there’s no risk, that it won’t affect you personally! Cognitive neurology experiments have shown that in a virtual world, virtual social tensions and the risk of simulated physical harm trigger the same areas of the brain as real stress, fear and pain. We are creatures of the imagination, and our brains are very good at making us feel what, materially speaking, doesn’t exist, because they believe it does.
