Seconde place ! My dance of En’Kara Fair Dance Competition in video !

After a hectic night in the emergency room (my Angel had a kidney stone, and it’s very impressive!), I’m back home, I slept for three hours and I’m dead! It all ended well, though!

And so on Sunday I took part in the solo slave dance competition at the En’Kara fair and… I won second place! You can imagine my surprise and my joy! Because yes, I know how to do Gorean dances, I know how to write them, I know how to interpret them, I know how to choose the dances, the costumes, etc. But this competition is really a competition with a high general level, and while I am delighted to take part, I didn’t think I had a single chance of winning. My primary motivation is to do my best and make Lyra and my friends proud. This year’s theme was: “Express what En’Kara means to you”. It’s up to us to interpret this theme, each in our own way.

Seen from the outside, I think that the spectators have a good idea of the efforts made by the dancers to give the best of themselves for the duration of a piece of music, to create a moving and magical show. But seen from the inside, because all the participants were in a discussion group to organize the dance rounds, we have terrible stage fright, and we are really stressed and emotional. The question is not even: “Will I win?” but “Will I be up to the task, will the audience be satisfied, will a glitch or last-minute panic ruin weeks of work, or not?”

Winning is just a bonus. Doing your best, giving the best performance possible, being encouraged and congratulated by the audience and the other participants is the reward for weeks of preparation.

I got that bonus. I won second place, and I cried with emotion, nervously. But what I remember most is not second place; it’s all the people who sent me moving messages of congratulations or thanks for my performance. And of course, among all these messages, there are those from my Mistress, of whom I made her proud! I hope that this is what all the other participants also experienced and felt. That is our victory.

Here is the video of the whole competition! I set it to the timeline of my dance, so you can discover it, but watch the others, go and discover them too. First of all because it is magnificent and they deserve to be honored, and secondly because if you like gorean slave dance, it is really a very good example of a whole range of ways of dancing.
