Imperial Ar soft opening tomorrow (Friday, Sept 20, noon SLT)

Surprise! Yes, for me too, I just found out!

So, it’s a soft open, which means that the sim is open for roleplay activities, you can play your character there, but there are lots of things—buildings, decorations, furniture, structures—that aren’t finished yet. It will probably take another ten days or so to get everything done (Syndel is working hard, cheer her on!!).

Imagine that Ar is still a huge construction site with thousands of workers and craftsmen hard at work, and you’ll get an idea of the atmosphere. Your characters won’t find all the amenities you might dream of, and for some it will be a bit like camping. But it’s also a good atmosphere for intrigue and events surrounding these construction sites and frenetic activity, and an opportunity to get to know your neighbors!

And to add some more info, the ZcS dice combat system is up and running, and you can come and get your HP counting HUD on the sim, as you can see in the photo below.

Cold and ruinous, Marlenus sat on a throne of stone similar to his predecessor ages past in the high slopes of the Voltai, looking towards Ar… waiting. Sword laid across his thighs, years passed as his retainers spread throughout the cities of Gor and returned with stories of events and the turnings of life.
His heart beat coldly in his chest until one fateful report spoke of nature sprouting anew in Ar, and thus he bade the Physicians and Builders to clean the delapidated city and breathe life into it once again. When all was clean, the air sweet, the waters clear, he summoned his people to Ar’s Station and began the long march home along the breadth of the Viktel Aria.

Caravans grew, people surged, and a convoy soon became a river. At the forefront marched Marlenus, determined to see the gates of his city once again, to lay eyes upon the spires of home. It surged like a jagged mountain in the distance. Ar, overgrown, its white walls laden with green of nature’s ravages, its towers now emerald, dappled with flourishing blossoms. The children of Ar approached their city with awe and wonder as if looking upon it without ever having knowing it, innocent and stunned.

Towers rose as they grew closer, and once near the gates, Marlenus paused his solemn march, withdrew something from his robes that fit between his hands, and raised it high above head and proclaimed: “I throw open the doors by right of the Priest-Kings, their greatest gift to man, the first of all, the Home Stone of Home Stones, the breath of Hesius, the whisper of Ar!”
